Polished Aluminum Ceramic Coating
Ruk Polished ceramic coating or (also called header coating, jet coat, or hot coat) is our brightest looking finish and great for any steel or aluminum component that you want to have a shine or show quality look. It is similar in appearance to polished aluminum. This coating can withstand temperatures up to 1300°F and it won’t turn blue or gold like chrome or stainless finishes. Ruk Polished ceramic will dull if the coating gets overheated and this can start to happen around 1100°F. This coating prevents thermal fatigue, rust, corrosion, oxidation, and heat buildup which ruin and weaken components. By preventing these damaging elements you increase the life of your components. This coating can also increase performance on components that are coated with Ruk Polished ceramic coating..
This coating lowers under hood temperatures helping prevent that all too common heat soak of parts by keeping the heat inside the exhaust pipe. This coating does require maintenance to keep the polished finish looking nice. It can be cleaned easily with soap and water. You can also use any non-abrasive aluminum polish to bring out the shine if it ever gets dirty or dull looking. This maintenance should happen every few months to ensure that the coating lasts and functions properly.
This coating works great on naturally aspirated engines and any parts that need to have a high quality finish that doesn’t see high heat. It is NOT recommended for high performance applications. This coating can be applied to both new and used components. If you can’t easily access this part for maintenance please consider another coating option.

**Note: At temperatures above 1300°F the coating is still functional, but will begin to discolor and fail. Discoloration can happen at temperatures as low as 1100°F. It is recommended that your motor be broken in and tuned with the headers prior to coating, or with a different set of headers. Creating a lean or extremely rich condition with the newly coated headers can produce high EGT’s and accelerate the dulling of the coating. Please make sure it is broken in and/or tuned prior to installation. If this is not possible place a fan to direct airflow over the headers in an attempt to keep them from overheating. Upon first start up after installation of coated components, an out-gassing of the coating will occur, leading to an odd smell. This is normal and will only last a short period of time.
